What is a technologist?
Technologists must complete a three year collegiate degree. They follow advanced math classes, engineering theories and science fundamentals. This enables them to participate in conception, problem solving, data interpretation, complex solutions, estimates, sequencing, planning, analysis and decision making.
What is a professional technologist?
The word « professional » identifies individuals that are members of the ‘’Ordre des technologues professionnels du Québec’’. Students who graduate in technology programs officially become professional technologists when they join the OTPQ. This title testifies to their commitment in following strict ethical norms and to assume the responsibility of the execution of the work they have trained for.
The P.T (Professional Technologists) or T.Sc.A (technologist in Applied Science) initials are therefore restricted by law to members of the Order
